Second-year Computer Engineering student who'd rather know what the CPU is actually doing than trust the abstraction on top of it. Currently getting humbled by Rust's borrow checker.

I'm FlaredRover, a second-year BSCpE student with a growing obsession for the layers most people never look at — registers, memory, and the handful of instructions everything else is built on. Most of my coursework runs through C, C++, and Java, but the projects I actually enjoy are the ones in x86 assembly, where nothing is hidden and every mistake is mine to debug by hand.
I've been picking up Rust recently, mostly to force myself to think more carefully about ownership and memory safety — the borrow checker and I are still negotiating. Long-term I want to end up somewhere close to the metal: embedded systems, OS internals, or performance-critical code where understanding the hardware actually matters.
